Reverse engineering: Nikon S51c

Cables and connectors

The camera, Nikon Coolpix S51c (and consequently also Nikon S51) has a proprietary connector at the bottom. It is a 26-pin connector with rectangular shape. It contains pins for power, video/audio out, USB signals, and possibly more unidentified ones.

The camera comes with two cables.

The proprietary connector pinout was reverse-engineered by disassembling the power and USB/audio/video cable. Both cables utilize an SMD connector soldered to a circuitboard. In the USB/AV cable the pins on the board were labeled. The pin numbering was devised from the pin number labels on the board.
